“Good little ship!”
wasn't sure about going on such a small ship, but this unsure mentality was quickly overturned by the warm welcome & easy embarkation onboard Boudicca. The good thing about the smaller ship is its much less crowded on arrival, so it makes it easier for the cruise line to get you on the ship faster.
Anyway on board the ship, there are the usual facilities you would expect, although a little smaller than i was used too! A buffet restaurant & a main dining restaurant with lovely food & a typically British style menu. A cabaret style lounge with a nightly performence - the highlight being the crew show at the end of the cruise, its amazing they have time to run the ship whilst preparing for a weekly performence aswell! Great fun.
The pool it quaint but does its job, and there is plenty of deck space & loungers for when the sun it out!
The ship is much better for passengers looking for a quiet, relaxed, intimate cruise, where attention to detail matters.
The only issue i had throughout the cruise was perhaps the size of the cabin, we had an oceanview on deck 4, it was a little tight, not much wardrobe space if you are on a long cruise, and not much of a turning circle in the bathroom. But i am fairly tall so it affected me more that it may do someone else!
Its not the best ship for families or younger couples but if you can get a good deal on it, you won't be disappointed.
One thing that did stand out for me was the prices of drinks on board - cheapest i have ever seen! I like a drink myself, and was pleasently suprised at my bar bill at the end of the cruise.
Give the Boudicca a go if you have not tried Fred Olsen before, its a nice little ship with a great atmosphere & lovely staff. What more so you need!
